Our verdict

By Sean Lupton · March 21, 2026 · Scored 8.9/10 against how we test

The Globe Haul ST is for the family that wants a car-replacement cargo bike but doesn't want to wrestle a school-bus wheelbase or spend Tern money. That ultra-low step-through means almost anyone in the household can mount it, and a 419-lb payload covers a kid and a Costco run. At $2,999 it undercuts the European long-tails while keeping Specialized's dealer network — riders who need dual-battery range or premium mid-drive smoothness should still price up.

The 8.9 reflects genuine strength on ride quality, brakes and serviceability: the geometry is dialed in on the first try, the Tektro Auriga 4-piston hydraulics are the right call for a loaded bike, and dealer support is a real advantage over direct-to-consumer rivals. The modular battery scores well on real-world range too, since a second pack pushes you toward 150 miles. The knock, consistent with the listing, is a hub motor that will heat up under heavy load on hills.

The trade-off is motor choice: at three grand you're accepting a 700W hub rather than a load-tuned mid-drive, so long, steep, fully loaded climbs are where it works hardest. For most flat-to-rolling errand duty that's a fair compromise, and the bench seat is an extra cost worth budgeting. If your terrain is genuinely mountainous with kids aboard, a Bosch Cargo Line bike like the Tern GSD is the alternative — at nearly double the price.
