Affiliate Disclosure

We're reader-supported and proud of it. Here's exactly how ElectricBikes.com earns money — and the line we never cross.

Last updated: June 14, 2026

In one sentence:

Some links on this site earn us a commission and some placements are paid advertising — all clearly labeled, at no extra cost to you, and never in a way that changes our scores, our rankings, or which safety issues we report.

1. The short version

ElectricBikes.com is reader-supported. Some of the outbound links on this site are affiliate or sponsored links, which means we may earn a commission or fee when you click through and make a qualifying purchase — at no additional cost to you. We also sell clearly labeled advertising.

That money keeps the lights on and our testing independent. It never buys a higher score, a softer review, a better ranking, or a quiet omission of a safety problem. If a product is bad, we say so — affiliate link or not.

2. How we make money

Affiliate commissions. When we link to a retailer or brand, that link is sometimes an affiliate link. If you buy after clicking it, we may receive a small commission from the seller. You pay the same price you would have paid anyway.

Advertising and sponsorships. We sell display advertising and sponsored placements (for example, a featured-partner brand). These are always clearly labeled as advertising or sponsored — they are never disguised as independent editorial.

What we do not do. We do not sell positive reviews, rankings, ratings, or editorial conclusions. A brand cannot pay us to score higher, to be called a 'best' pick, or to have a recall, fire, lawsuit, or other safety issue left out. Our editorial independence is not for sale.

3. How we label affiliate and sponsored links

We include disclosures on pages that carry affiliate or sponsored links. Outbound affiliate and shop links are tagged with rel="sponsored" so search engines and readers can identify them. Sponsored or paid-partner placements are labeled as such on the page, separate from our independent, scored reviews.

Listings we have not independently tested — including some affiliate-partner products — are presented as showcases, not as scored reviews, and are labeled accordingly.

4. Our editorial independence (no pay-to-play)

ElectricBikes.com is an anti-pay-to-play editorial site. Our reviews, scores, comparisons, and 'best of' selections are based on our own testing, research, and judgment — never on whether a brand advertises with us or runs an affiliate program.

We always report known safety actions — such as CPSC recalls, NHTSA investigations, class-action settlements, fire incidents, and major lawsuits — on the pages that discuss an affected product, whether or not we earn a commission on that product.

5. FTC compliance

This disclosure is provided in accordance with the U.S. Federal Trade Commission's 16 CFR Part 255, "Guides Concerning the Use of Endorsements and Testimonials in Advertising." Our goal is to be clear and upfront about every way we earn money so you can weigh our recommendations with full information.

6. Questions

If anything about how we make money is unclear, we want to fix that. Reach out any time through our contact page and we'll explain.
