Carrying

Rear cargo rack

Turns any bike into a utility bike. Carry groceries, work gear, or a kid's seat without a backpack ruining your back.

Rear cargo rack

Look for a rack rated for at least 55 lbs (25 kg) for groceries; 80–120 lbs (35–55 kg) if you'll add a child seat or heavy panniers. Aluminum is light, steel is repairable. Check that the rack is compatible with your bike's mounts — many e-bikes need an MIK or RackTime mount.

If your bike has thru-axles or no eyelets, look for an Old Man Mountain or Tubus rack with axle-mount adapters. Don't trust strap-on racks for daily commuting — they walk loose over time.

Where to buy

Two paths — match your spend to the bike. Quality picks last longer and protect resale; affordable picks get you riding safely today.

Pro tips from our test team

  • If you might add a child seat later, get a 120-lb–rated rack now. Upgrading later means re-mounting everything.
  • MIK and RackTime decks are worth the slight premium — they accept clip-on baskets and kid seats with no tools.
  • Carry weight low and forward. A high, heavy rack changes the bike's handling more than you'd expect.
