Our verdict

By Sean Lupton · June 3, 2026 · Scored 8.3/10 against how we test

The Xafari is Segway's adventure fat bike, aimed at riders who want big range and modern app-driven features in one polished package. A torque sensor, a huge battery, and built-in Apple Find My tracking make it a strong long-range explorer at $1,999. It's less suited to riders who dislike app-first ecosystems or need a light bike — at 79 lb this is a heavy adventure machine best left outside.

The 8.3 rewards real-world range and safety: a 938Wh, UL 2849 certified pack credibly supports the up-to-88-mile figure, hydraulic discs handle stopping, and the torque sensor lifts motor-and-power-delivery above the cadence-only competition. Find My tracking is a genuine build-and-serviceability and security plus. The main marks against it are weight and the fact that its app-centric feature set won't appeal to everyone — value is otherwise strong.

The trade-off is that you're buying into Segway's connected ecosystem and carrying a heavy frame to get class-leading range and a torque-sensor ride. For tech-comfortable adventure riders that's an easy yes. If you'd rather have a battery you can also use as backup power, the Mokwheel Basalt offers a similar UL-certified big-battery build with an optional inverter kit for about the same outlay.
