Our verdict
By Sean Lupton · July 15, 2026 · Scored 8.3/10 against how we test
The Roadster V2 is the stealth road e-bike for a rider who wants a light, silent boost that hides in a bike most people won't clock as electric. At $1,095 and 33 lbs, it's ideal for fit riders on shorter, flatter routes who value looks and feel over range. Anyone needing real distance, or a bike that hauls loads, should skip it — the small battery and singlespeed belt define its narrow lane.
The 8.3 is carried by value and ride quality: sub-35-lb weight, a normal road-bike silhouette and a silent Gates belt drive make it a joy at the price, and owner accounts love how discreet it is. The 350W hub's 40 Nm is modest but suits the mission. It's held back on real-world range — the 252Wh pack backs only an up-to-30-mile figure — and on brakes and safety, since the Tektro mechanical discs feel underspecced for a bike that hits 24 mph.
The trade-off is range and stopping confidence for weight and stealth: you accept a small battery and mechanical brakes to get a genuinely bike-like ride cheaply. For short, spirited rides that's a fair swap. If you want more distance or hydraulic braking at speed, a Specialized Vado SL rides in the same lightweight spirit — far more range and refinement, at several times the price.
