Our verdict
By Sean Lupton · July 8, 2026 · Scored 7.9/10 against how we test
The 7S is the minimalist's e-bike — for the rider who wants a normal bike with a gentle tailwind, not a moped. At roughly 37 lb it's one of the lightest e-bikes you can buy, making it a joy to carry and to ride unpowered. Skip it if you have steep hills, heavy loads, or a long commute; the modest power and small pack are honest limits, not oversights.
The 7.9 rewards ride quality and value: the low weight means it handles like a real bicycle, and the gentle boost is exactly what minimalist riders want, with hydraulic discs covering brakes-and-safety at a fair $1,499. It's held back on motor-and-power-delivery and real-world range — a 250W hub, 40 Nm, an 18 mph cap, and a small 252Wh Samsung pack mean it's not for hills or big miles, and the one-year warranty limits build-and-serviceability confidence.
The compromise is deliberate: you accept modest power and range to get a light, simple, low-drama bike that feels like cycling with help rather than motoring. For flat-city minimalists that's the entire appeal. If you need more punch and battery in a still-light package, the Velotric T1 ST costs the same and adds a torque sensor, Find My, and a UL-certified battery — at the cost of a few pounds.
