Our verdict

By Sean Lupton · May 28, 2026 · Scored 8.3/10 against how we test

The Juggernaut Ultra Beast is a maximalist fat bike for riders who want range and grunt above all else, and who like to configure a build to order. A 160 Nm Bafang Ultra mid-drive paired with a 1440Wh battery is overkill for the average commuter — this is for long backcountry days and heavy riders. Anyone wanting a manageable, everyday bike should walk away; at 80 lb and Class 3 speed it demands respect.

The 8.3 is driven by motor-and-power-delivery and real-world range: the Ultra mid-drive climbs anything, and that enormous 52V Samsung pack backs the 80-mile claim even with the power on. Four-piston hydraulics and an 11-speed drivetrain support brakes-and-safety and build. It loses ground on value and everyday usability — the premium price, long build times, and sheer 80 lb mass make it a specialist's bike, not an all-rounder.

The compromise you accept is weight, cost, and lead time in exchange for essentially uncompromised range-and-torque. For the right rider that's the whole point. If you want the same Ultra motor for less and don't need the giant battery, the Bakcou Mule is the alternative — cheaper and lighter, but with far shorter range once you lean on the power.
